THE PRESS - PLANT OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER - BRUNNERA 'JACK FROST'
Brunnera Jack Frost - Colour For The Shade Garden
With its heart-shaped frosted-silver leaves, Brunnera 'Jack Frost' adds hard to find colour and dramatic texture to a shade garden. Its perfectly formed, upward facing leaves offer a brilliant backdrop for the small clusters of bright blue flowers that appear in Spring. Also known as Siberian bugloss which in Greek means ox tongue, this clump-forming, low maintenance perennial grows to 40 cm by 40 cm.
It is excellent for planting under evergreens and brightening shady corners. Add compost and fertiliser when planting and mulch in winter. Trim off straggly leaves and flowers in later summer. Brunnera 'Jack Frost' is available at local garden centres under the Gardening Solutionz brand.
