This herbaceous plant is quickly becoming a favourite with all that choose it. The dark plum purple almost black foliage is vibrant and intensifies over the summer months producing rich red flowers. It has a good compact, clumping habit that is happy in the garden or containers. For the best foliage colour the plant needs full sun. It is drought resistant and easy to grow. It is a social plant that is compatible with Heucheras, Lavenders, and other succulents. This plant is approximately eighteen months old when it reaches the garden centre and will double in size over the next two years, eventually growing to a height of 0.6 metres by 0.6 metres.

Sedum Purple Emperor, from Sussex in England is a great garden plant, with its vibrant dark plum-purple, almost black, foliage which intensifies over summer months and its ruby flowers. It's easy care and, being drought resistant, is great for xeriscaping.
Sedum Purple Emperor has a compact clumping habit, growing to 40cm by 40cm. It likes full sun with good drainage. Evergreen in warmer climates, it may die back during winter in colder climates. The flowers are outstanding for cutting and attract butterflies and bees. Use as a background plant, massed in rockeries or in containers, amongst grasses or flaxes, or in a traditional perennial border.
