Its common name is laurustinus and it originates from Southern Europe.  Dark green, slightly glossy leaves cover the plant year round, and in late winter, clusters of pink and white flower buds appear which open to pure white flowers.  Viburnum tinus makes an outstanding informal hedge, which is also good for screening noise and providing wind protection.  Plant the bushes one metre apart and trim after flowering.  Viburnum tinus tolerates frost, semi shade, sun, wind and coastal conditions. Plant in free draining soil.  This plant is approximately eighteen months old when it reaches the garden centre and will triple in size over the next three years growing to a height of 3 metres by 1.5 metres if desired.</p>]]></content:encoded>
