THE PRESS - PLANT OF THE MONTH - NOVEMBER - SEDUM PURPLE EMPEROR
Sedum Purple Emperor, from Sussex in England is a great garden plant with its vibrant dark plum purple, almost black foliage which intensifies over the summer months and produces ruby coloured flowers.
It's easy care and, being drought resistant, is great for xeriscaping. Sedum Purple Emperor has a compact, clumping habit, growing to 40cm by 40cm. It likes full sun with good drainage. Evergreen in warmer climates, it may die back during winter in colder climates. The flowers are outstanding for cutting and attract butterflies and bees. Use as a background plant, massed in rockeries or in containers, amongst grasses or flaxes, or in a traditional perennial border.
